We're suing the Michigan Strategic Fund!

On August 25th, after being three times denied by state legislature, the Michigan Strategic Fund approved the use of 50 million taxpayer dollars to help advance the proposed Copperwood Mine via anti-democratic tactics that subvert oversight from elected lawmakers and may very well violate the state constitution and Michigan law. In response, Protect the Porkies has filed a Claim of Appeals while we prepare additional legal action. While we have been able to fund the preliminary legal work, the future of this important case depends entirely on a grassroots, crowd-funded show of support.

Led entirely by volunteers, Protect the Porkies has fought for 3+ years to protect the Porcupine Mountains and Lake Superior. Although beloved by countless folks from around the state and nation, our immediate area of operation has few human residents and no large population centers to fund our work. We continue to be the only environmental advocacy group in Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties.

The future of our mission depends entirely on those willing to chip in from near and far on behalf of our beloved Lake Superior and Porcupine Mountains!
